Every instructor who works directly with children holds a current Victorian Working with Children Check. Checks are recorded, verified before a first session and reviewed for expiry.

Raising Heroes is a child safe organisation. Our safeguarding practices follow Australian standards, and we are happy to show families the evidence behind every commitment on this page.
Training
First aid, CPR and water safety
Instructors maintain current first aid and CPR qualifications. Anyone delivering aquatic sessions also holds water-safety training appropriate to the setting.

Our practices are shaped by the ten National Principles for Child Safe Organisations, endorsed by all Australian governments, including child empowerment, family participation and staff suitability.
Cover
Insurance
Raising Heroes maintains public liability and professional indemnity insurance appropriate to recreational children's activity programs. Certificates of currency can be provided to families and venues on request.
Supervision
Visible, observable sessions
Sessions run in open, observable spaces. Parents and carers are welcome to stay and watch. We avoid unnecessary one-to-one isolation and never transport children in private vehicles.
Privacy
Information handling
Family and health information is collected only where it helps us support your child, stored securely and never shared without written consent, in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.
Our commitments
Safety is a practice, not a paragraph.
These are the standards our instructors are held to before, during and after every session.
- Children are listened to, believed and encouraged to speak up about anything that feels wrong.
- Families are partners. You are told what happens in a session and consulted before anything changes.
- Photography and video only ever occur with prior written consent, and consent can be withdrawn at any time.
- Any allegation, disclosure or concern is taken seriously, documented and reported to the appropriate authority.
- Cultural safety matters. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, children from culturally diverse families and children with disability are supported to be themselves.
- Instructors work within their scope. We deliver recreational and skill-building activities, not therapy, diagnosis or clinical treatment.
If something goes wrong
A clear, predictable incident procedure.

Immediate care
The child's safety and comfort come first. First aid is given where needed and the session pauses.
- 02
Family contact
We contact the parent or carer as soon as it is safe to do so, before the session ends wherever possible.
- 03
Written record
The incident is documented the same day, including what happened, who was present and the action taken.
- 04
Review
We review the cause, adjust the plan or setting, and confirm the change with the family in writing.
